Setup

Set it up on your Mac.

  1. 01 Connect the DT4x to your Mac over USB (RS-232 and optional Ethernet also exist).
  2. 02 Load direct-thermal labels (no ribbon needed).
  3. 03 Run auto-calibration so it learns your label gap/black-mark.
  4. 04 In JetLabel, add the printer and select the ZPL protocol (GZPL mode).
  5. 05 Set the label size to 100 × 150 mm for 4×6 shipping labels.
  6. 06 Print a test label and confirm alignment and gap detection.
  7. 07 Adjust darkness/speed in JetLabel if barcodes are faint or smeared.
Troubleshooting

Known issues.

  • Community-reported: GoDEX macOS drivers are limited, so rely on the GZPL/ZPL-near path in JetLabel rather than a vendor CUPS driver.
  • EZPL is ZPL-near via GZPL, not identical to Zebra ZPL — based on specs some advanced ZPL features may behave differently and benefit from a dedicated EZPL pipeline.
  • 203 dpi only, so very small fonts and dense barcodes are coarser than on 300 dpi models.
  • Make sure the printer is in GZPL (Zebra) mode rather than native GEPL if ZPL output looks wrong.
